The poem " Beowulf " tells the
story of an extraordinary man who performs great deeds. Beowulf is the hero of
his time , unprecedented in strength and willingness to take on any challenge
that comes with the least possible with weapons and without the help of other
warriors . It is in a league of its own physics. Because of this , however , is
also in a league of their own emotions. Be the hero and idol of everyone can be
cool , but not exactly the best place to be if you want to form meaningful
relationships with people. This is the fight of Beowulf. It is, indeed , an
isolationist surrounded by people , because almost divine status combined with
his " I can do it myself " attitude fosters an environment of fear
and worship around and a sense of pride and no self- confidence in it.
The idea of idolatry and its effects on
relationships is a concept that is very prevalent in our society today. Take
the example of a rock star and his fan. There is an obstacle that prevents the
formation of a relationship that was constructed from total fanatical cult star
and the star's knowledge and sense of superiority. Beowulf is said to have
" average strength of adhesion on each side" ( 380 ) . It is
reiterated several times throughout the poem that is unparalleled . It is
superior , and has every right to feel this way . This makes it almost
impossible for people to see that it meets more than fear or envy , as Unferth
originally made as " Beowulf came , the sea , defying sick of jealousy
" ( 501 ) . Unferth sings a different tune when he saw that Beowulf is the
